CONDITIONS WE TREAT
Zionsville Ketamine treats the following psychiatric conditions when ketamine therapy is clinically appropriate.
(Note: the links below open to more comprehensive definitions of each condition from our education library at Zionsville Psychiatric Medicine).
1. DEPRESSION
Ketamine is best established for depression, including treatment-resistant depression and depression with suicidal thinking.
Unlike standard antidepressants, ketamine produces rapid changes at the level of brain cell connections. For some patients, relief begins within the first day or two of treatment.
2. BIPOLAR DEPRESSION
The depressive phase of bipolar disorder is among the most difficult to treat.
3. PTSD
Ketamine is not a standard first-line treatment for PTSD itself.
It may be considered when symptoms remain severe despite standard treatment, especially when depression, suicidal thinking, or severe loss of hope present.
4. ANXIETY
Including generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety.
5. OCD
Ketamine may create a period of increased neurological flexibility during which established OCD patterns can be more accessible to change.
